A would-be assassin targeted President Donald J. Trump at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on Sunday afternoon around 1:30PM, as President Trump was golfing. The Trump campaign confirmed the incident, reporting shortly after that “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity.”

The Palm Beach Sheriff, alongside the FBI and U.S. Secret Service, explained that a Secret Service agent advancing the golf course “one or two” holes ahead of Trump and his golf partner Steve Witkoff encountered a man with a rifle, the barrel of which was poking out from the bushes on the course. At that point, the Secret Service engaged the individual, who was not hit and who fled, eventually making it to his vehicle.

At the same time, Secret Service agents accompanying the President “pounced” on him and covered him as they played the 5th hole.

A nearby witness captured an image of the man’s car – a black Nissan – which was relayed to local police, who picked up the suspect further down the road in Martin County, Florida. The man is believed to be a white male in his late 50s or early 60s.

The gunman had a backpack that contained a rifle and a GoPro video camera alongside his AK-47 with a scope. The Palm Beach county sheriff made clear that given the weapon and the scope, Trump’s proximity to the suspect – around 300 yards away – is not considered to be a particularly long distance.

President Trump issued a statement around 4PM EST, which read: “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again.”

The FBI is now in charge of the investigation, and the U.S. Secret Service reiterated that the threat level against Trump is very high.

This clause mandates that elections must be free and equal, with no power allowed to interfere with the right to vote.

Previously, a Commonwealth Court panel had agreed with the plaintiffs, ruling that rejecting properly cast but undated ballots would infringe on the fundamental right to vote. Judge Ellen Ceisler, writing for the majority, emphasized that such a refusal was legally unjustifiable.

Non-compliance could lead to the rejection of thousands of ballots, as witnessed during the April primary, where about 4,400 were rejected over dating issues.

A record nine candidates have commenced a brief 15-day campaign to become the next leader of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and succeed Fumio Kishida as prime minister. The campaign period began on Thursday, aiming to restore public confidence after a scandal involving slush funds impacted intraparty groups.

The LDP is Japan’s major nationalist and conservative political party, once led by the late Shinzo Abe—a friend and political ally of former President Donald J. Trump. Abe was murdered by an assassin on July 8, 2022, while delivering a campaign speech in support of a fellow party member’s bid for a seat in the House of Councillors.

Due to the LDP’s dominance in Japanese politics, whichever candidate wins the party’s presidency will likely assume office as the country’s prime minister on October 1. THE CANDIDATES.

Among the contenders are two candidates in their 40s and two women vying to be Japan’s first female prime minister. Four of the nine candidates currently serve in the Cabinet. Shigeru Ishiba, 67, making his fifth attempt at LDP leadership, described it as the culmination of his extensive career. Digital Minister Taro Kono, 61, the early Cabinet member to announce his candidacy, targets global security issues. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi, 63, is known for his diverse expertise.

Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, 71, is one of the two female candidates and has gathered the required support from 20 lawmakers. Economic security minister Sanae Takaichi, 63, aligns herself with the late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s vision.

Former economic security minister Takayuki Kobayashi, 49, and ex-health minister Katsunobu Kato, 68, are new entrants to the race. LDP Secretary General Toshimitsu Motegi, 68, challenges the government’s tax policy and proposes alternative funding for defense spending increases.

If no candidate secures a majority of the 734 votes in the initial count, the election will move to a runoff between the top two candidates, with votes reallocated to Japan’s 47 prefectures and LDP lawmakers.

Over the past two years, Archer has appeared before several House of Representatives committees during a Congressional investigation into the Biden family’s business interests. Archer has previously testified Hunter Biden would put his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, on the phone during business meetings with some regularity, and there is suspicion the elder Biden used his political influence to protect his son’s business interests in Ukraine.

Additionally, a trove of documents supplied by Archer revealed the Federal Bureau of Investigation was aware in 2016 of Hunter Biden and his associates’ intentions to establish a new business venture in Liechtenstein. Hunter, at the time, was still serving on Burisma’s board, and the move raised additional concerns about compliance with the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

Archer is a key figure in the Biden family corruption investigation and impeachment inquiry. Formerly a close friend of Hunter Biden, both men played critical roles in Burisma’s Ukrainian energy business and served on the company’s board. Despite Archer and others’ testimony, the review of thousands of documents, and the release of a final impeachment inquiry report in August, the House of Representatives has yet to formally move against Joe Biden, who they accuse of being at the center of the Biden family’s corrupt business dealings.

The Democrat-controlled Pennsylvania Supreme Court has overturned a lower court’s decision regarding the necessity of correct dates on mail-in ballots. The ruling, issued Friday, mandated that mail ballots must include the correct handwritten dates to be considered valid.

Last month, a lower court ruled against discarding mail-in ballots for incorrect handwritten dates on their envelopes. However, the state’s highest court nullified this decision after an appeal from the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Pennsylvania GOP. Conservative attorney Mike Davis called the ruling a “Major win for election integrity in Pennsylvania” in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The state Supreme Court’s ruling emphasized the procedural error in the original case.

“The Commonwealth Court lacked subject matter jurisdiction to review the matter given the failure to name the county boards of elections of all 67 counties,” the court stated in its order on Friday.

A former CIA officer, Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for espionage. Ma, 71, was found guilty of conspiring to provide classified information to Chinese intelligence officials. The court in Honolulu concluded that the former officer engaged in the illegal exchange of sensitive materials in lieu of financial compensation.

According to Ma’s plea agreement, he and a relative, who also had a history with the CIA, orchestrated meetings in Hong Kong with Chinese security officers. These meetings resulted in the transfer of classified documents in return for $50,000. Ma had entered a guilty plea in May.

Subsequent to his plea, Ma became the subject of an undercover operation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He had applied for a position as a linguist at the FBI’s Honolulu field office. The FBI, aware of Ma’s connections to Chinese intelligence, employed him at an off-site location to facilitate monitoring.

The Department of Justice disclosed that Ma, while under FBI scrutiny, attempted to photograph sensitive documents using a digital camera with the intent to pass the information to his Chinese handlers. This act was closely tracked by FBI agents.

Additionally, the plea agreement mandates Ma to cooperate with U.S. authorities throughout his life. This cooperation includes participating in debriefings by U.S. government agencies, a condition to which he has already shown compliance during several interviews.

The sentencing marks the latest development in a series of high-profile investigations, arrests, and trials involving Chinese espionage plots in the United States. Data guru Harry Enten is questioning whether Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris will provide a much-needed boost among the youth vote for the 2024 Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. According to the CNN analyst, Harris has lagged far behind the margins by which the 81-year-old incumbent Joe Biden won young voters in the 2020 election.

“Why does Kamala Harris welcome Taylor Swift’s support, why does she need the help?” Enten said during a Thursday segment reviewing polling data. “Let’s just point out something that I have been noting all along during this campaign, and that is the underperformance that both Joe Biden—and now even Kamala Harris—has among young voters.”

The data, reviewed by Enten, shows Biden with a 28-point polling margin over Trump among voters aged 18 to 29 in September of 2020. However, by July this year, Biden’s margin had collapsed to just seven points. Meanwhile, his data for Harris shows her with only a weak improvement over Biden’s 2024 numbers, clocking a 15-point margin this month.

Despite the Swift endorsement, Enten remains skeptical that Harris’s margin among young voters will significantly improve or match Biden’s margins in 2020. “The bottom line is Kamala Harris is—in fact—not doing as well among young voters as you might expect a Democrat to necessarily be doing based upon history.”

In addition to the youth vote being less enthusiastic about Harris than perceived, Enten notes that in several crucial swing states—namely Pennsylvania and North Carolina—Republicans have reversed the Democratic registration advantage. In both states, Democrats held around a 500,000 voter advantage in 2020. That lead has been erased, with Republicans now holding around a 150,000 vote advantage in both states.

Former U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell has accused the country‘s far-left government of interfering in the U.S. Presidential elections with an X (formerly Twitter) post “fact-checking” former President Donald J. Trump following his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Grenell reacted to a post by the German Foreign Office—roughly equivalent to the U.S. State Department—which criticized Trump’s statements on energy security. The former president noted the Germans, after pushing renewable energy policies hard, were forced to turn back to “normal energy plants.”

The German post said, “Like it or not, Germany’s energy system is fully operational, with more than 50 percent renewables.”

“And we are closing—and not building—coal-fired and nuclear power plants. Coal will be off the grid by 2038 at the latest. PS: We don’t eat cats and dogs either,” they added.

Grenell reacted to the Tweet, stating, “The blatant election interference from the German government is worse than the Russian and Iranian interference.”

Grenell later noted that German media has largely vindicated Trump’s comments on renewables, stating that the 50 percent renewable figure is limited to electricity production only, not energy overall. Only around a fifth of Germany’s total energy consumption is covered by renewables. It is also true that the Germans had to reactivate many coal-fired power plants to get through winter.

The German jibe about eating cats and dogs—a reference to Trump mentioning reports of Haitian migrants killing animals in Springfield, Ohio—was also ill-advised, as the European country has experienced confirmed cases of migrants killing and eating people’s pets.

Their crimes date back to the 2000s, with many such groomers only being prosecuted years or decades after the fact. This is a result of Britain’s woke police forces, prosecutors, and child protective services being reluctant to pursue the predominantly Muslim, Pakistani-heritage offenders and neglecting their mostly white, working-class victims due to fears they would be accused of racism for taking action.

Mohammed Amar, 42, received a 16-year sentence for two counts of indecent assault. Yasser Ajaib, 39, was sentenced to six years for one count of indecent assault. Mohammed Zameer Sadiq, 49, was given a 15-year term rape conviction and engaging in sexual intercourse with a girl under 13. Mohammed Siyab, 49, received a 25-year sentence for two counts of rape, one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, and trafficking. Tahir Yasin, 38, was sentenced to 13 years for eight counts of rape. Ramin Bari, 37, received a nine-year sentence for four counts of rape. Abid Saddiq, 43, already convicted in 2019 for rape and indecent assault, faced additional charges, earning another 24-year term. All will likely be eligible for early release on license long before these terms are complete.

Putin notes that Ukrainian drone attacks have already taken place within Russia, most recently in Moscow. However, “When it comes to using high-precision long-range Western-made weapons, it’s a completely different story.”

“The Ukrainian army is not able to strike with modern long-range precision systems of Western manufacture. It cannot do this. It can only do so using intelligence from satellites, which Ukraine does not have. This is data from [European Union] satellites, or from the United States, in general from NATO,” he said.

Putin believes only NATO servicemen can enter flight assignments for the missile systems, arguing the real question is whether NATO wants to be directly involved in the war in Ukraine or not.

Putin’s ominous words come after Biden-Harris Secretary of State Anthony Blinken hinted that Ukraine may get the green light to use long-range missiles against Russia earlier this week.
